I know who I am

Hello my Dearest Readers

(I am wearing the most amazing wedges by Zara with mustard socks from monki, the shorts are a DIY and a vintage top and jacket. I was going for a coco Chanel take on the outfit which I hope you think that I have achieved)

I am a feminist. I also like too look good. I don't hate all guys on pre tense. But YES I am still a feminist. I think that I just addressed the main stereo types that come with feminism. I don't shout from the rooftops that I am a feminist, hence I never have to deal with these issues out right. Which is fine for me. I am happy quietly being in my corner of the ring.

If I am honest, I think that most women are secularity feminists, on a basic level al the least. Mostly we don't appreciate being treated like shit by men. Although their are defiantly more issues then how men treat women. I hate going into the details on this because their are so many issues and I don't think that I can cover them in one fear swoop. I am not saying that our society is hopeless because we have come a long way, in women's rights. To think that we could not even vote a 100 years ago.

I don't think it would be fun to live in a world where I had no prospects of ever being able to vote. I would be pulling my hair out and most likely being a complete bitch to everybody who came by just so I had some control over my life.

To me it feels like a right to care about this stuff, like discovering films Notting Hill for the first time or watching my first Vivienne Westwood on line. I know that sounds stupid and those things may not even seem important to you, but they have had a massive effect on my life.

If you want a good book to read I have a suggestion, this is on topic of this post btw. The book is called How To Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran. It's about growing up getting old, I guess. I think that it can tell you so much about being a girl, (I know that sounds weird as hell but it's true). It also says a lot about feminism and gives you a basic understanding about feminism in general. It is also just a grate read as well. This book is what made me say it for the first time I am a Feminist. It is very empowering to read.

I won't lie and say that I came up with this all on my own. I got the inspiration for this post from Clothes, Cameras and Coffee. The idea of doing this post has been in my head for a while and she kind of showed me how to write as I think that it is quit a hard topic to address.

XOXO

Sasha

  1. I just headed over here to say thank you for your honest, reflective comment on my post - and am thrilled to see this post of yours!
One thing I realised after putting up that first post on the subject - after reading one of the comments by someone living in a much more unequal society than the Uk - is how far we HAVE come, in spite of the current concerns of feminism remaining extremely relevant and in spite of the continuing inequalities .
    Great outfit by the way.
